Use the ADT Tab

Records on the average traffic a road experiences are useful for projecting future wear to a road. There are two ways to record traffic counts within Roadsoft’s ADT tab. They are the Average Daily Traffic (ADT) and the Annual Average Daily traffic (AADT) counts. The ADT count is the average daily volume of a road, calculated by the amount of vehicle traffic over a period of time divided by that time. The AADT count takes the total vehicle traffic over a year and divides it by 365 days to estimate a daily traffic count. The Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS) uses AADT counts to determine funding for repairs and maintenance.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) does not draw submittal information from the ADT tab. To record traffic counts for use in reporting, use the Traffic Module. To enter ADT, AADT, and Average Weekday Daily Traffic (AWDT) counts into the Traffic Count module, see Enter Traffic Count Averages

The ADT tab is not usable for segments with any traffic counts on them in the Traffic Count module. To use the ADT tab, delete all traffic count information on that segment in the Traffic Count module and restart Roadsoft.
