Export Crash Data & Print Reports
Crash data can be exported from Roadsoft for comparison, analysis, or presentations. Data can be exported as a Tab-Delimited (.txt) file, Comma-Separated Value (.csv) file, Database (.dbf) file, Extensible Markup Language (.xml) file, Keyhole Markup Language (.kml) file, or as ESRI Shapefiles (.shp).
Numerous crash reports are available in Roadsoft. Reports can be printed or saved as Portable Document Format (.pdf) files.
The two options for exporting crash data and printing reports in Roadsoft are through the reporting feature, and through the SMS Crash Data Interface.
Export Crash Data & Print Reports - Reporting
Crash reports can be printed from the reporting feature in Roadsoft. Crash data can only be exported as Tab-Delimited (.txt) file or Comma-Separated Value (.csv) files using this feature. For other data export options, see Export Crash Data – SMS Interface below.
From the Roadsoft top menu bar, select Reporting.
Select the Crash Reporting… link. The Crash Reports window will automatically open.
Select the type of report desired from the Report Type drop-down options.
Select a Report Name from the drop-down options.
Use the Filter Builder to report for specific criteria.
If using a previously saved filter, select Open in the Filter Builder, select the desired filter, and select Ok.
If creating a new filter, select and add Field, Operator, Value, and Group options.

Select the Define/Change Report Headings… link to add/change the report heading, subheading, or footer.
Choose an output option.
Select Preview to view, export, or print the report.
Select Preview.
From the Report Preview window, select File.
Select Export to PDF, Export to Excel, or Export to CSV.
Choose a destination for the report.
Select the Save button.
Follow the printing instructions on the selected export option to print.
Select Export to create a CSV file.
From the Export Report Data to File window, check items in the Columns to Include section.
These selections can be saved by selecting Save Layout.
Select Export.
Choose a destination for the report.
Select Save.
Export Crash Data from SMS Crash Data Interface
Crash data is exportable from the SMS Crash Data Interface as Tab-Delimited file (.txt), Comma-Separated Value files (.csv), Database files (.dbf), Extensible Markup Language file (.xml), Keyhole Markup Language files (.kml), or as ESRI Shapefiles (.shp).
With the Crash layer visible and active, select the SMS Interface button on the map toolbar.
This assumes data are selected. For detailed instructions for selecting data using this feature, see Use SMS Crash Data Interface.
Select the Export as File button, and select a file type from the list.
The Save crash data to (file type) window will open. Enter a File Name.
Select the save location for the file.
Select the Save button.
From the (File Type) File Created window, select OK.
Close the Crash Data Interface window.
Print Reports from SMS Crash Data Interface
Crash reports are printable from the SMS Crash Data Interface in Roadsoft.
With the Crash layer visible and active, select the SMS Interface button on the map toolbar.

Select the Generate Reports button, and select a report from the list.
From the Report Preview window, select the Print icon.
From the Print window, select a printer.
Select Print.
Close the Report Preview window and the Crash Data Interface window.
