Export Traffic Counts

Traffic Study Data can be entered into Roadsoft and then exported to MDOT, where it can then be used to meet federal reporting requirements.

The traffic count data that needs to be exported for MDOT will need to be in short count format and can be entered or imported.

Reporting Requirements

  • The traffic count study must be less than 6 years old.
  • The duration of the study must be 24 hours or greater.
  • Each study must be current with a unique PR number and milepoint location.
  • An Average Daily Traffic (ADT) must be assigned to each of the traffic studies.

Export/Upload Traffic Count for MDOT

These steps will output two Federal comma separated values (.CSV) files. It will not send the files to MDOT. MDOT will provide instructions on submitting data.

From the top menu bar, select File, select Export/Upload, then select Export/Upload Traffic Count for MDOT... The Export Traffic Count Data window will appear.

Enter the Begin and End Dates.

If accepting storage responsibility, select True in the I accept storage responsibility field. If sending the data directly to MDOT for storage, select False.

If count detail is present, 2 files are generated. If there is no count detail present, 1 file is generated.

Choose an Export Path to determine where to save the data.

Select the Export File button. The Export Complete window will appear.

Select the OK button.

The Upload Traffic Count Data will appear. Select the Yes button.

Select OK in the Upload Traffic Count Result window.
