Add, Edit, or Delete a Point Pavement Marking

Point pavement markings consist of arrows, words, and symbol markings that are found at a specific point on the pavement. Arrows are used to convey directional or lane usage requirements, while words and symbols are used as sign supplements to convey regulatory, warning, or guidance information.

Add a Point Pavement Marking

Make the Road layer visible and active.

Using the Selection tool, select a road segment to add a point pavement marking to.

From the map toolbar, select Add Feature.

Select Add Point Pavement Marking…

From the Edit Point Pavement Marking Location window, use the Selection tool to select a location for the point pavement marking on the map.

The location of the point marking is marked by a red circle on the map.

At the Reference Distance field, the button to the right toggles the reference distance to either Feet or Miles.

If the marking has snapped to the wrong reference road or intersection, see Change Reference Road or Intersection.

Select fields in the Visible Shapes Near GPS Point section to edit them.

Select the OK button.

The Point Pavement Marking Module will automatically open. If there are no edits to be made, close the Point Pavement Marking Module.

Edit a Point Pavement Marking

Make the Point Pavement Marking layer visible and active.

Using the Selection tool, select the point pavement marking to be edited.

From the map toolbar, select View Module to open the Point Pavement Marking Module.

Select the fields in the Point Marking Inventory tab to edit them.

Fields with blue text are determined by the location of the marking, and cannot be edited.

Use the dropdown menus in the Physical Characteristics section to edit the Marking Type, Material, or Color.

To edit the marking location:

Select the Edit Location… link in the Point Marking Inventory tab.

Select Yes to open the Edit Point Pavement Marking Location window.

Using the Selection tool, select a new marking location.

If the driveway has snapped to the wrong reference road or intersection, see Change Reference Road or Intersection.

Select fields in the Visible Shapes Near GPS Point section to edit them.

Select the OK button.

Once all edits have been made, select the Save button at the bottom of the Point Marking Inventory tab.

Delete a Point Pavement Marking

Make the Point Pavement Marking layer visible and active.

Using the Selection tool, select the point pavement marking to be edited.

From the map toolbar, select View Module to open the Point Pavement Marking Module.

Scroll to the bottom of the Point Marking Inventory tab and select the Delete Point Marking… link.

Select Yes to confirm the action.
