Search for an Asset

Sometimes an agency needs to locate specific assets in their Roadsoft database. One quick and easy way to do so is to use the Search tool feature. The Search tool allows user to search for assets using assorted information, including Physical Route Numbers (PRNos), identification numbers, or the name of the road the asset is located on.

Select the desired layer.

Select the Search button.

Select the Search By drop-down menu to select a category.

Select the blank field to input information to search for.

If using the Road Name category, select the Drop-down list to select a search style.

If searching for signs, select the Check Box button to include archived signs and supports.

If searching for roads, select the Limit Jurisdiction field to enter a county, city, or township to limit the area to search through.

Other fields may appear in search categories.

Select the Search button.

Select the desired assets.

To select multiple assets, hold down the CTRL button and select assets. To deselect assets, hold down the ALT button and select assets.

Select the Zoom to Selection check box to zoom the map to the selection.

Select the Selection drop-down menu to select a selection style.

Append to Selection – Add found assets to any currently selected assets.

Replace Selection – Replace any currently selected assets with found assets.

Select the Make Selection button.
