Locate SQL Server Version

Roadsoft and MERL software both utilize SQL Server (a Microsoft product) to create their databases. If agencies have installed a of SQL Express while installing Roadsoft, MERL, or from a SQL Server Express installer downloaded from our website, follow these instructions to locate the SQL Server version being used.

Locate version on Roadsoft 7.8.4 (or higher) or MERL 5.3.2

1.       In the top menu bar, select Help.

2.       Select System Information.

3.       Review the SQL Version field.

Locate version on Roadsoft 7.8.3 or lower

If the server name does not contain TDG as shown below, contact your internal technical support to determine what version of SQL  Server is used.

1.       Locate the connected server in the bottom left corner of the map (see circled below).

2.       Use the legend below to determine the server version

·         TDG = SQL Server 2005

·         TDG2008 = SQL Server 2008

·         TDG2008R2 = SQL Server 2008R2

·         TDG2012 = SQL Server 2012

·         TDG2014 = SQL Server 2014

Locate version on MERL 5.3.1 or lower

If the server name does not contain TDG as shown below, contact your internal technical support to determine what version of SQL  Server is used.

1.       Locate the connected server in the top right corner of the main menu bar. 

2.       Use the legend below to determine the server version

·         TDG = SQL Server 2005

·         TDG2008 = SQL Server 2008

·         TDG2008R2 = SQL Server 2008R2

·         TDG2012 = SQL Server 2012

·         TDG2014 = SQL Server 2014
